This week, the Billboard country charts have been more static than usual. In fact, Hot Country Songs’ top 5 is exactly the same, highlighting the key players and their consistent selling. As per usual Florida Georgia Line are at the top, ‘Cruise’ at #1 on Hot Country Songs and #1 on Country Digital Songs. ‘Get Your Shine On’ is not too far behind, at #9 on Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Songs, and their third single ‘Round Here’ has begun its ascent on the Country Airplay top 30, this week at #29. ‘Here’s To The Good Times’ has risen to #3 on Top Country Albums once more.
Again, Blake Shelton’s ‘Boys Round Here’ (featuring Pistol Annies and friends) is FGL’s strongest contender. At #2 on Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay, and #3 on Country Digital Songs, the recent release of a celebrity remix is bound to push the track to #1 next week. If that weren’t enough, Blake’s latest album ‘Based On A True Story…’ holds onto the #1 spot on Top Country Albums. Not too far behind him is Darius Rucker, whose album ‘True Believers’ is at #2, while the big hit ‘Wagon Wheel’ remains at #3 on Hot Country Songs, #6 on Country Airplay, and #4 on Country Digital Songs.
Tim McGraw’s ‘Highway Don’t Care’ (featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban) is still at #1 on Country Airplay, while it struggles to make it above mid-top 10 elsewhere. However, #6 on Country Digital Songs and #4 on Hot Country Songs is more than respectable, and Tim is still at #11 with his critically acclaimed album ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’. Luke Bryan begins to take the stage with ‘Crash My Party’, now at #5 on Country Digital Songs, #4 on Country Airplay, and #5 on Hot Country Songs. I don’t think it’ll be more than a few weeks until this song hits the top. I think that’s also a possibility for Jake Owen, whose ‘Anywhere With You’ is at #3 on Country Airplay and still climbing and at #8 on Hot Country Songs. However, it’s fallen to #15 on Country Digital Songs.
Hunter Hayes is not to be forgotten for high chart positions however, ‘I Want Crazy’ reaching a new peak of #6 on Hot Country Songs this week. It’s also risen to #12 on Country Airplay, but suffered a slight drop to #7 on Country Digital Songs. The biggest climb of the week has to go to Carrie Underwood. Her new single ‘See You Again’ jumped 12 places on Country Digital Songs to #11, going from barely noticeable to just on the boundary of the top 10, after her emotional performance at the CMT Music Awards last week. The track is also at #14 on Hot Country Songs and #13 on Country Airplay.
There are plenty of new releases too. Cassadee Pope has hit the charts with a bang after her debut single ‘Wasting All These Tears’ was performed at the CMTs. She’s at #7 on Hot Country Songs and #2 on Country Digital Songs, and that’s no small feat for a brand new artist. Speaking of The Voice contestants, Danielle Bradbery is continuing to chart via her iTunes releases from the show, Sara Evans cover ‘A Little Bit Stronger’ at #13 on Country Digital Songs and Pam Tillis cover ‘Shake The Sugar Tree’ at #24. And it just keeps getting better for Blake Shelton. A live version of his song ‘Home’ (from Healing In The Heartland), featuring rapper Usher has debuted at #19 on Country Digital Songs.
LeAnn Rimes has also finally released her first original record in 6 years, ‘Spitfire’, which has come in at #9 on Top Country Albums, but she’s not the only one. Lonestar have a new record out called ‘Life As We Know It’, and it’s at #33. Honorable mentions go to The Band Perry, Brad Paisley, Randy Houser, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Lady Antebellum, Kip Moore, Eric Church and Keith Urban.
Tune in next Thursday for another Billboard chart roundup!
