Chase Bryant, who just landed his first-ever Top 10 radio hit with debut single "Take It On Back," was among the artists on the red carpet at the inaugural American Country Countdown Awards Mon. (Dec. 22). Dashing in a slicked-back solid-black suit, he was equally laid back, when NashvilleGab caught up with the rising star to talk about the success of his single and his all-time favorite country songs. "It's been great. It's definitely a humbling experience. I'm blessed and glad to be having all the success," he shared, smiling ear-to-ear.
The single serves as the lead sampling from his forthcoming debut LP, expected in 2015. He wrote every single track on the record, quite an accomplishment for a new act. "I produced the record, too, and played all the guitars and everything else," he said. "To me, it's been one of those...if you took the record and slapped it on paper, it's just who I am inside and out."
During the ACCAwards, Kenny Chesney was showered the Groundbreaker Award for his work in the format. Bryant then shared his thoughts on the greatest story ever told in country music. "Speaking of Kenny Chesney tonight, 'Anything But Mine' is probably one of my favorite country songs ever written or 'Please Come To Boston' by Dave Loggins. Between those two, I believe in story songs. That's what I write a lot, as well."
With the holidays in full swing, he revealed that one present he always wanted as a kid but never got. "My mom and dad always got me new [guitars], but I always wanted an old one. That would be it."
