Frankie Ballard hasn't had his glory days yet...

In Frankie Ballard's most recent single “Young & Crazy,” he sings about sitting out on the porch, telling stories ‘bout my glory days.

So with two hot number one songs with “Sunshine & Whiskey” and “Helluva Life,” it makes us wonder....has Frankie reached his glory days status?

“I don’t feel like I’ve had ‘em, yet,” he says. “You know, I feel like I’m in the middle of ‘em now. I definitely have stories I could tell people, but your glory days are your prime, you know, when you’re just at your best when you feel like you can take over the world. That’s what I feel like now. So, I’d have to be way past the way I feel today before I could honestly speak to glory days.”

But in a twist, he actually feels like his career took off when he was inspired by the song "Glory Days"

   

“The most, like, high moment I’ve had in my music career was when we were on the Bob Seger tour, and we played Madison Square Garden, and Bob introduced me to Bruce Springsteen backstage,” he recalls. “To me, it’s like, if I keeled over after this meeting, that would be my highlight. Not only to get to meet Bruce Springsteen, but to be introduced to him by Seger at Madison Square Garden. It was like, ‘Where am I? What am I doing here?’ So, that’s probably my highlight so far.”

How cool that even as his career climbs to new heights he wants more and is humbled by getting to meet his idols? Sigh. He's just amazing.

Frankie Ballard is a bit of nostalgia

Tell me when you look at that above photo you don't immediately think of James Dean?! It's uncanny! And then you realize that photo was taken only a month ago! Sigh. Frankie Ballard is dreamy.

Frankie Ballard has had a "helluva" 2015 already with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel and opening up for Florida Georgia Line. He continues to be one to watch!

Frankie Ballard Light 'Em Up Tour Review

Frankie Ballard's "Light 'Em Up" tour made a stop on November 15th in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of Washington D.C. and I was curious to see if there was anything special about this particular artist. Well, I got more than I bargained for.

A Thousand Horses (a Nashville based band) took the stage first. The band recently signed with Republic Nashville and I've heard some interesting things regarding their ability to entertain. I have one word that describes this band perfectly, brilliant. From their style to their smooth stage presence, they scream authentic. Although their sound is southern rock, they have a blue collar essence about them. They could easily be labeled as the modern day Lynard Skynard. They performed a song titled "Smoke" which is set to be released to country radio sometime in January. I enjoyed their entire set but a few songs stood out to me. "Drunk Dial" puts a unique spin on calling your ex lover after you've had a few drinks. "Landslide" was also a top pick. The band worked well together and it all seemed meant to be. Destiny.

Opening act Frankie Ballard took the stage full force. I expected a decent show, what I got was massive. Opening with "I Came To Get Down" it was very clear what his goal was for the night...to entertain. He set the stage on fire from beginning to end, never slacking or slowing down. He performed fans favorites such as "A Buncha Girls" as well as "Tell Me You Get Lonely." Right before he took the stage he got word that his current single "Sunshine & Whiskey" had just went to #1. It was a nice addition to the show. It was obvious fans enjoyed being a part of that celebration. He also performed a few classics and paid homage to the music he grew up on. He sang Johnny Cash "A Boy Named Sue" with style. Also, his version of Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll" was effortless. The ending was also flawless as he brought out the band A Thousand Horses and they all toasted and took shots of whiskey prior to singing "Helluva Life" together. From his vocals to his ability to rock the crowd, Frankie Ballard is something special. If Elvis and Johnny Cash had a baby, his name would be Frankie Ballard.

RaeLynn gets in the middle of a very hot man sandwich

This could quite possibly make country crooner RaeLynn the luckiest girl in the whole wide world. I mean first she's got an in with country music's royal family of Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert and now THIS. A straight up man sandwich consisting of hotties Frankie Ballard AND Dustin Lynch! I know I'm jealous...the caption for the photo? Simply: smiles and kisses.

I'd be all smiles too if I were getting kisses from those fellas!

Sweet ride Frankie! It's not everyday you get to be behind the wheel on such a sweet ride so I'm hoping Frankie took advantage of that!  Which it sounds like he did because he said:

Frankie Ballard: I don't get drunk before shows

Toby Keith recently angered more than a few fans when he gave what many called a drunken performance in Indiana. Perhaps he was on the tail end of a long string of shows...or maybe he was drunk. Either way, it wasn't his best performance.



I asked Frankie Ballard what his personal opinion is on DWP. That's drinking while performing. See what I did there? In his new song, "Sunshine & Whiskey" he says, "DWK." Nevermind. Here's the clip.

It's a Helluva successful day for Frankie Ballard

Frankie Ballard just scored his first # 1 with 'Helluva Life" and something tells me it will be the first of many for the up and comer! He took to his twitter to show his appreciation and...in traditional country music fashion, thank Jesus. Send him a congratulations...it's a big deal ya'll!

Frankie Ballard takes his pipe smoking seriously

Smoking a cigarette these days is definitely frowned upon. Smoking a pipe, however, seems okay and almost cool in a grandpa sort of way.

For Frankie Ballard, pipe smoking is serious business. 

In a recent interview with Broadway, he says: 

Let me tell you something about tobacco. Cigarettes and cigars are very social smoking, you know? A pipe is meant to be smoked in solitude. A very introspective sort of thing and I find it incredibly relaxing and it smells good. I've always loved the smell of pipe tobacco.

Frankie Ballard announces new album, 'Sunshine & Whiskey'

Warner Bros. Records guitarist-vocalist Frankie Ballard will release his brand new album, SUNSHINE & WHISKEY, on 2/11. The title couldn’t be more fitting for the rising newcomer, who has launched into the Top 20 at Country radio with the smash “Helluva Life.” The top-selling song marks his fastest rising single to date and is featured on the album produced by Marshall Altman.

 

"Making this album was freeing,” shares Frankie. “If I didn't like something, we'd change it, and if we liked something, we'd chase it and try to get it perfect. It was an unbelievably cool experience and I’m excited to share the new music with fans." 

Frankie Ballard - 10 Random Questions

 

Michigan native Frankie Ballard has made his mark on country radio this year. However, most people know him from his previous singles back in 2011, which were top 40 hits. "Tell Me You Get Lonely" and "A Buncha Girls" both did fairly well that year. Frankie has toured with names such as Taylor Swift and his idol Bob Seger.

Now 2013 has brought us a new Frankie and a new single - "Helluva Life" was released back in August. The song is up-lifting and unique. "Pennies make dimes and dimes make dollars, dollars buy gas and long neck bottles" is an expression I find to be completely true. His voice is unlike anyone I've heard. Something about him screams "real country music" yet he also has a modern day vibe. As strange as it may seem, I refer to him as half David Lee Murphy and half Bob Seger. He has a country/soul/pop thing going on. Whatever it is, I like it.

1. At what age did you realize you wanted to make music a career?

Oh I guess I was about 20 when it really kicked in.

 

2. What artists did you listen to growing up?

Lots of outlaw country. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton. I also loved Elvis and Skynyrd.

I'm lovin' what Eric Church is doin'.
