During an interview last November, Garth Brooks promised to do me a solid. Can you help me remind him? It's for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and will only take a minute. Listen to the clip below for the scoop.
The singer announced this afternoon that he'll be playing the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento on March 27 and 28 with tickets going on sale Friday, February 13.
Looks like Garth is turning a bad luck Friday the 13th into a good luck day for a bunch of lucky fans.
Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com or 1-800-745-3000 and Ticketmaster Express 1-866-448-7849 and run $74.88.
You can visit GarthBrooks.com for more tour dates and more info.

Garth is heading home to Tulsa to perform this week and next (Jan. 9-11 and 15-17) and to celebrate, Tulsa has changed the name of four streets around the BOK Center to honor the singer.
Say hello to Low Places Lane, Thunder Rolls Road and Shameless Boulevard.
"This is Garth's hometown and where he lived up until a few weeks ago. And ever since we opened in 2008, Garth has been the most requested act. Hands down. Year after year. So we thought this would be good to commemorate him. And obviously, there's just a whole lot of civic pride here for Garth and we wanted to welcome him home with open arms,” Jeff Nickler, BOK Center General Manger, said of the honor.
There's also a fourth street that's been changed in Garth's honor to Rodeo Drive, although I'm sure people who aren't familiar with Garth will just think Tulsa's gotten uppity and named a street after the famous Beverly Hills one and will end up pronouncing it ro-day-o drive.
Which could definitely be entertaining for those who know the actual reason for the name change.
Tickets are pretty much sold out to the show, although a few are still available for a couple of the dates. If you're interested, you can find out more info about the show at Bokcenter.com.
Garth Brooks has released his fair share of singles over the span of his mega-successful career. Over 50 to be exact. However, there are several songs he wishes would've made the cut. And one in particular.
Just which song does he wish woulda' been released as a single? Garth explains...
“Alabama Clay, off the first record,” Brooks tells Indiana radio station WKDQ. “We still play it live. I get so many requests for ‘Alabama Clay.’ Love it.”
That song is actually from way back on Brooks’ 1989 eponymous debut album. Four singles were released from that disc: Much Too Young (to Feel This Damn Old), If Tomorrow Never Comes, Not Counting You and The Dance, all of which hit the Top 10. If Tomorrow Never Comes and The Dance both reached the numero uno spot.
“I’ve probably got a list of five or six of them that could probably fit that bill,” The country star said.
So there you have it....even a huge hit maker like Garth Brooks has things he wishes he would've done in his career. Although...the way things turned out kinda worked out, too.

For the last couple of weeks, we've heard a lot about Justin Timberlake singing Garth Brooks' signature song Friends in Low Places during various concerts, interviews, etc. Well it looks like Justin's homage-paying was all leading up to one thing ... Garth himself.
During his show in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena on Friday, JT surprised the crowd by not only once again singing Friends in Low Places, but by doing it with none other than the legend himself.
Garth Brooks was the only country artist to perform at Sunday night's American Music Awards and he did it via satellite. Just makes me wonder if he knows that holograms are all the rage with country artists now?
Check out Garth's performance below.
Speaking of the AMAs, country artists who won awards for the evening included Carrie Underwood who won Favorite Country Female Artist, Luke Bryan who won Favorite Country Male Artist, Florida Georgia Line took home the award for Favorite Country Band, Duo or Group, and Brantley Gilbert who won Favorite Country Album for "Just As I Am."
Waylon Jennings versus Garth Brooks? Yep, it happened. Now Garth has addressed how he felt about having a country music legend not particularly like him much.
Back when Garth was at the height of his popularity, Jennings wasn't afraid to express his dislike of Garth's music. One quote from 1994 probably summed up Waylon's feelings best (quote via Saving Country Music): “I think he’s the luckiest s.o.b in the world. He’s gotten more out of nothing than anybody I can think of. I’ve always accused him of sounding like Mr. Haney on Green Acres.”
Ouch.
There's even a rumored quote that's attributed to Waylon that goes, “Garth Brooks did for country music what pantyhose did for finger ....” Um, yeah, you get the gist. You can read the history of that quote and whether it's actually from Waylon here.
Now Garth has addressed Waylon's feelings about him, telling Broadway that he never met the legend, but that yeah, he definitely didn't like his music.
"For some reason I guess I was the guy that he targeted," Garth admitted. "It was tough for me because he was a country legend and for some reason I was the guy that got the brunt of it."
Despite it being tough, Garth goes on to say that he tried not to take it to heart too much.
"I really never took it that personal. I think he was just addressing the different style in country music and the changing of the guard and that's tough for anybody to handle. The guy is a legend and deserves nothing but respect."
Garth also talks his alter ego Chris Gaines, social media, and what he'd tell his younger self if he had the chance to talk to him.
Being the kid of a famous person must be great, right? Money, cars, jewels, mansions, butlers with lovely British accents, private jets, dinners in fancy restaurants with hard-to-pronounce names, zero college debt, red carpet events, famous friends, tiny dogs in over-sized purses.
Oh sure, the life of a celebrity offspring sounds fabulous to us normal folk. Dig a little deeper, however, and you'll find that having a famous parent and/or step-parent can be downright annoying, especially when their shows are the hottest ticket around.
Just ask Garth's daughter, August, who took to the internet a while back to post this rant (her words) about people in her life who really, really want tickets to Garth and Trisha's shows.
