John Rich has a bone to pick with Marvel (as in the comics)

Look! Up in the Sky! It's a Bird...It's a Plane... It's a super mad country singer! 

Okay, that's actually DC comics, but just go with it. 

Reformed reality show contestant battler, autotune refuser, stalker-having John Rich has decided to pick a fight with a bunch of superheroes. 

Literally. 

The singer took his two sons, 4-year-old Cash and 3-year-old Colt, to the Marvel Universe Live show over the weekend and left shortly after it started due to his poor kids getting scared by all the loud sounds and too-close-for-comfort fireworks going off. 

John took to Twitter afterwards to express his displeasure at the show.

Kids spent 4 months looking fwd2 #marveluniverse only to leave crying 15 mins into it due to concussion bombs. @marvel #ripoff ParentsBeware

Holy PTSD, Batman!

Shoot, I think Batman's DC Comics, too. Why do DC's characters have all the good sayings?

True story. I took my kids to see The Polar Express in theaters way back in 2004. It was like a Wednesday morning matinee and we were the only ones watching the show that morning. My son, who was 4 at the time, bawled like his hair was on fire because the theater was dark. Then he bawled because the movie was really loud once it finally started. Twenty minutes or so in and he totally forgot all his fears and was completely engrossed in the show. And he's only a little bit scared of Tom Hanks these days. 

There wasn't really a point to that story other than I like to tease my now 14-year-old, nearly 6 foot tall son every chance I get that he once cried at The Polar Express. Not that he'll read this, mind you, but it's the thought that counts. 

And maybe John will one day be able to share a good laugh with his grown sons about how they were once afraid of a bunch of men in tights.

Hey, if we can't laugh at all the ways we permanently scar our kids over the years in the name of fun, what can we laugh at?

Anyway, so far Marvel hasn't responded to John's criticism, but I'm thinking they probably won't be sponsoring future Big & Rich tours anytime sooTMZ

Update: Missed that Marvel did apologize. A rep for Marvel told TMZ, "We take into consideration the ages and sensitivities of all our audiences when producing our shows, and we apologize if Mr. Rich felt the special effects were too loud."

Back when I heard that Big & Rich were working on new music, I didn't think much of it. Honestly, despite the fact that I like the duo, I figured their best music was behind them. 

Glad to say I was wrong.

The pair's newest song Look At You is really good and makes me excited to hear what else they've been brewing in the studio. 

I'm definitely digging Look At You right now.

John Rich officially launches new lifestyle brand, Redneck Riviera

 

John Rich officially launches the new lifestyle brand, Redneck Riviera, LLC, today at a press conference at Spinnaker in Panama City Beach, Florida in front of thousands of Spring Break revelers.  Joining Rich for the announcement were Doug Allen of FunTees, a division of Delta Apparel, Inc. and Sparky Sparkman, owner of Spinnaker.  The “Redneck Riviera Spring Break Takeover” is officially in session with merchandise currently being sold at the club and online at REDNECK RIVIERA.  The branded lifestyle line will be available in numerous mass merchandise outlets later this spring.   

 

"After seeing so many people enjoying the laid-back, carefree beach lifestyle of the ‘Redneck Riviera,’ I realized it is not just a place," says John Rich, brand ambassador, during the press conference prior to a huge Big & Rich concert at the Spinnaker Beach Concert Series.  "It’s a state of mind that can be found coast to coast and every land-locked town in between.  My main goal is to make sure this product lives up to the lifestyle," he continued.

Big & Rich will never use Auto-Tune

Mostly because it's doesn't work on more than one voice at a time.

I asked this question because of recent songs by Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Colt Ford with Jason Aldean, and Jerrod Niemann. I also noticed this on Wikipedia...

"According to the Boston Herald, country stars Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Tim McGraw all use Auto-Tune in performance, calling it a safety net that guarantees a good performance. However, other country music singers, such as Allison Moorer, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks and Martina McBride, have refused to use Auto-Tune."

Okay, now let's move on to more pressing issues. Like new Big & Rich music! John told me that a new single is on the way after the 1st of the year with an album likely following next spring. He actually pitched some of the new cuts to Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Jake Owen, but inevitably decided to keep them for Big & Rich.

John Rich shows off redneck Christmas gifts ... launching new T.V. show next week

Last night, John Rich headed to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to show off a few funny, not-so-red-hot redneck Christmas gifts. Check it out above. 

Speaking of John, on Monday, November 25, he will be launching his new show “Rich at Night” on TV Guide Network premiering at 8pm ET/PT. Special guest artists featured on the debut episode will include Wynonna Judd, Kix Brooks, Wayne Brady, John Ratzenberger and Gretchen Wilson to perform and co-host at various bars in Nashville. The show will feature Rich’s own home in Nashville, Tenn. with co-host, Australian singer, model and actress Sophie Monk. John Rich's stalker arrested for stalking 17-year-old girl

Wow, if you thought that the guy who is accused of stalking Big & Rich's John Rich was creepy before, this definitely isn't going to change your opinion of him.

Mark "Chris" Sevier, a 36-year-old former Nashville attorney who was arrested back in June for allegedly stalking John Rich, was arrested this morning in Nashville for allegedly stalking a 17-year-old girl.

Eesh willakers. 

According to The Tennessean, Sevier spotted the girl at a local coffee shop and ended up following her to where she worked.

As if that wasn't creepy enough, after following her to her to her place of employment, Sevier allegedly spooked the girl by telling her about a private conversation she had had at the coffee shop with a friend months earlier, the arrest warrant stated.

John Rich has a run-in with the law

It's been several years since John Rich had a good old fashioned run-in with law enforcement, but last week the Big & Rich singer had to pay up for some of his past activities. 

John tweeted:

John fought the law and the law won. 

Big & Rich were up north on Saturday for a show in Lucknow, Ontario, Canada.  

John Rich gets a new T.V. show, slams Rolling Stone magazine over Boston Bomber cover

Rolling Stone magazine has ruffled quite a few feathers with the cover of their latest issue which features Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. 

John Rich tweeted his disgust with the magazine this morning, saying: "You always think as an artist "If I ever get on the Rolling Stone I'll know I've made it!" That was until they started promoting terrorists." 

Just so you know, I'm now going to have Dr. Hook's Cover of The Rolling Stone stuck in my head all day now. Also, do you think Rolling Stone would have put the bomber on their cover if he looked like a troll rather than a little Jihadist heartthrob? Just sayin'.

In other John Rich news, T.V. Guide is reporting that he's set to take part in another reality show on TVGN. 

The Untitled John Rich Project will film at Rich's Nashville home and feature live performances, celebrity interviews, surprise guests and lots of audience interaction in a loose party atmosphere. The series is produced by 25/7 Productions with David Broome (The Biggest Loser), Yong Yamand Marc Oswald as executive producers.

This definitely isn't John's first foray into reality T.V. He's also taken part in "Celebrity Apprentice," "Nashville Star," "Gone Country," and "The Star Next Door" in the past.

The happiest stalker you will ever see belongs to John Rich

John Rich has a stalker problem (allegedly). 

The smiling fella above, 36-year-old former Nashville attorney Mark Sevier, was arrested on Sunday (at church no less) after allegedly ignoring two restraining orders John Rich had taken out on him in the last year. The last straw seems to be two emails John says he received from Sevier, one that mentioned John's two young sons and another which contained a picture of a man "wearing very little if any clothing with an American flag draped over his body and having a substance, believed to be representing blood, covering himself."

Eesh, creepy.

According to Fox 17, who spoke with Sevier, he and John have a long history that began when Sevier represented Jared Ashley legally a few years ago. You may remember that whole fiasco when John sued the former "Nashville Star" contestant for defamation and and then got arrested for allegedly attacking Jared in a Nashville bar. 

Since he represented Jared, Sevier has lost his law license due to a "mental disability related to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from his time serving in Iraq." 

The accused former attorney tells Fox 17 that he believes he's a target. "I blow the whistle against bullies and they push back, and they push back through any means they possibly can to hurt me in any way."

John refused comment when contacted by the television station, but did tweet to fans after they showed support for the singer: "Goes with the territory. LOVE our fans!"

Sevier posted $4000 and was released from jail. 

John Rich takes on Clay Aiken over "racist" Republican tweet

John Rich is known for being an outspoken person and isn't afraid to tell it how he sees it. When it comes to politics, John seems to be doubly outspoken and last night on Twitter he took on Clay Aiken for a tweet Clay sent about the lack of African Americans attending the Republican National Convention in Florida.

Clay's original tweet said:

John Rich quickly chimed in and said:

Turns out Clay's tweet sentiment has a Twitter history and had already been bashed after an African American councilman and NAACP member recently made a similar tweet and added the hashtag #negrospotting.
