Kenny Rogers heading out on Christmas tour with Hillary Scott's mama

Kenny Rogers annual Christmas & Hits Through The Years Tour has been officially announced with 25 dates across the U.S. and Canada starting November 12 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.   

And as an added bonus, The Gambler is bringing along Hillary Scott's mama, Linda Davis, to help ring in the holiday season 

How cool is that?

The setlist for Kenny's 33rd Christmas & Hits tour will include holiday favorites as well as classic Kenny Rogers hits, from "The Gambler" to "Lucille" and more.  

I tell you what, there's nothing I'd like more than to start the holiday season off right by hearing Kenny Rogers sing Little Drummer Boy or Silent Night or some other amazing Christmas song. Unfortunately, he's not coming to my area, but you can check to see if he's coming to a venue near you by heading over to his website for tour dates.

Last weekend, I had the honor of watching my very first Kenny Rogers concert when he came to Boise, Idaho. 

And it's a concert I don't think I will ever forget. 

I remember being a kid in the 80s and my mom love, love, loving her some Kenny Rogers, so I was pretty happy when I was able to score two tickets and bring her along for the fun ride. I have four singers/groups who stand out strongly from my really young days: Bob Seger, which I remember because my mom went to his concert while I was in the hospital having my tonsils removed; Rod Stewart because I was in love with his highly-inappropriate-for-a-youngster Do Ya Think I'm Sexy; and The Gatlin Brothers because All The Gold In California was my favorite song and I sang it constantly. But then there was Kenny Rogers who I had a special place in my heart for because he was my mom's favorite singer, which definitely rubbed off on me, and I grew up thinking that he and I were related. See, my maiden name was Rogers and so in my young mind Kenny Rogers was some sort of a long lost uncle of mine.

In the new issue of Closer Weekly, Kenny Rogers exclusively shares photos inside his June 1 appearance at his own Kenny Rogers Children’s Center in Sikeston, Missouri, as he met patients and performed a benefit concert.

In an exclusive interview with the mag, Kenny, who helps fund the center which provides free care to those with special needs, shares his desire to give back. “These kids are so inspiring,” the country star tells Closer. “When you talk to them or they climb on you — they love the fact that they are being treated.”

His inspiration to get involved? His own five kids, including twins Justin and Jordan, who were back home in Atlanta with Kenny’s wife, Wanda, 47. “My younger boys are 9, and thank God, they’re healthy,” Kenny tells Closer. “Any time you see a sick child, it breaks your heart. I want these kids [at the center] to be happy.”

Not very many performers can say they've been in the “business” for over 50 years.  Not many can say they've played an instrumental role in the success of an organization that solely exists for the purpose of helping children with special needs.  Not many can say they've returned five times throughout the years to hold concerts and continue to raise money for that organization.  And certainly not many can say they've held an interest in that same organization for close to 40 years!  But yes, Kenny Rogers has certainly earned his name on the building of that very organization…The Kenny Rogers Children’s Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

"I usually don't get played on the radio that much anymore. I don't try taylor-make things just for radio," she told reporters at a press event last month of the album. As a whole, Parton wanted Blue Smoke to be a project her fans "would want to hear, something that means something to me."

"I thought, 'well, here at this age, I've been around this long. I've had the chance to do some of everything.' I just wanted to put together a record--I wrote a little liner note in the album where I talked about that I felt like this was just a whole assortment of all the different things I'd done through the years," she described. "I'm a girl of many colors. It was an album of many colors. I think it touched on the bluegrass, the gospel, the mountain and the more pop and rock things."

Kenny Rogers took to Instagram today to reveal that he'd recently wrestled with an alligator, fought off a few Ninjas, and showed Chuck Norris who was boss. 

Okay, as far as I know he didn't actually do any of those things, but he did get in a fight with an equally nasty foe - skin cancer - but luckily came out on top like a champ. 

..but you should see the other guy! Had a bit of skin cancer removed today — I recommend everyone go get checked, especially since May is National Skin Cancer Detection & Prevention Month. Don't worry though, I'm gonna look great in Knoxville this weekend!

There's not much I love more in this world than when a famous person with a great sense of humor. 

Okay fine, I love my family, my dogs, and maybe pizza more, but who's really keeping track anyway? 

So yesterday, the always amazing Kenny Rogers had his very first twitterview (an interview on Twitter) with Jessica from CMChatlive.com. It was a quickie interview as Rogers was at the airport waiting for his flight, but he still had time to do one awesome act before ending the interview. 

The man who runs the funny Not Kenny Rogers parody Twitter account had one request ... a thumbs up picture from Kenny to replace the old 70s/80s era pic he had up as his Twitter pic. 

Guess what Kenny did. 

Yep! Kenny sent him a special thumbs-up pic because Kenny is da-man.

Kenny Rogers receives honorary degree from Professional Photographers of America

Just three months ago, American icon Kenny Rogers was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. And now, last week in Phoenix, he picked up another career achievement, but this time it’s in recognition of his other talent and passion—photography.
 
Rogers received an honorary master of photography degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA) at its annual conference, Imaging USA, during the PPA Award & Degree ceremony, last Tuesday night, Jan. 14, at Symphony Hall in Phoenix, where more than 145 award and degree recipients were honored. Prior to the ceremony, he gave an exclusive live Q&A with convention-goers, discussing his life and work.  Rogers also shared photos from his forthcoming photography book, Places I’ve Been, Things I’ve Seen. 

Kenny Rogers Children's Center Receives $500,000 grant from Missouri Foundation for Health

The Kenny Rogers Children’s Center, which has provided a wide array of occupational, physical, and speech therapy to children since 1973, has recently undergone a 7,000 square foot expansion. This expansion has added a Motional Analysis Lab to the center, which is currently the only one in the state of Missouri.
