On April 24th, 2014 Toby Keith's Bar & Grill in Woodbridge. VA was expecting a special guest. Rodney Atkins was in town and was ready to perform some real country music.
Opening act Wesley Spangler took the stage first. Wesley is a local musician who prides himself not only on his original songs but on well-known cover songs as well. He performed songs by Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge and Colt Ford. His stage presence is strong and he knows how to get the crowd going. The band was incredible also. It was the perfect way to start the night.
Either Rodney Atkins has never heard Lorde's song Royals and completely winged his version of it, or he's so completely country that he had to sing it with major twang.
Either way, it's definitely interesting.
And if you're wondering about all those sexy men on the wall behind Rodney, Broadway tells me that's his co-host Cory's "Wall of Man Meat."
Now that's my kind of office decoration.

Rodney Atkins is pulling double duty. He and rapper Bubba Sparxxx had long been talking about teaming up to make a song happen, but truthfully I thought it was all talk. That was until Sparxxx's latest album, Pain Management, came out and sure enough the song 'Right' was included. I hafta' say after listening to it...it actually sounds more country than Tim McGraw's new single(well at least Rodney's part!). #Awkward. Still not sure if I understand the connection with rap music and country.

Last week, Broadway had an interview with Rodney Atkins where he was told not to go there with regards to Rodney's relationship with fiance Rose Falcon.
Not sure why he wouldn't talk about Rose last week but will this week, but The Country Vibe got the chance to ask Rodney some questions and one of those questions was whether wedding bells would be ringing anytime soon.
Turns out they're ringing sooner than you might think.
Rodney admitted that he and Rose, who have been engaged since July, are getting married next month. I'd quote exactly what he said, but that's pretty much exactly what he said
And no, he wouldn't elaborate any further.
He did say that he feels Rose is a blessing from God, which is nice.
“What she’s brought into my life is unbelievable. It’s just complete peace of mind of what love’s supposed to be.”
Best of luck to the happy pair.

Rodney Atkins is engaged to Show Dog-Universal artist Rose Falcon, but apparently you're not allowed to talk about it. I was told not to go there during a recent interview ... but I did ask him if he was 'in a good place.' He went all serious on me with his answer.
"Yeah, havin’ fun man...you know at some point in your life I think you quit thinking about what your motives are and your will, what you want to happen, and you just look at how blessed you are and you start trying to pay more attention to what God’s will is in your life and it makes a big difference in how you approach every day."We also talked baseball, his son, new music, and Bubba Sparxxx.

The RIAA-Gold-certified "Gun" was written by Casey Beathard and Marla Cannon-Goodman.
On country radio now is Atkins' latest single, "Just Wanna Rock N' Roll" from current album 'Take a Back Road'.
