Zac Brown and Eric Church are spear-fishing buddies

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's always funny to me when I hear of famous people who aren't romantically involved vacationing together, even though it seems to be a pretty common occurrence. 

The latest surprise vacation partners are Zac Brown and Eric Church. 

Eric recently co-hosted the Country Countdown USA radio program and revealed that when Zac and him vacationed together recently, the Chicken Fried singer got Eric into an interesting past time ... spear fishing. 

“He came carrying these spear guns to our beach house, and I got hooked on it," Eric said while co-hosting.

Country Countdown USA host Lon Helton later asked Zac about spear-fishing with Eric.

“Eric shot a big sting ray one of the days we went. I went through the whole thing, cleaned it, fileted it, cooked it, and ate it. Some of the sting rays were four or five feet long. It drug him through the water. He said it almost drowned him. But he & I are going to go to some places that are set up for spear-fishing, because it may be my favorite activity that I’ve ever done. It is so much fun. If you like to hunt and you like to fish, this is both. It is a lot of fun, and there’s definitely some more to come.”

With a boy on the way, Zac Brown's ready to have a little snip, snip now

So let's talk fertility for a moment, shall we?

Zac Brown and his wife are a pretty damn fertile couple. Bravo to them for their breeding success! But all fun things must eventually come to an end and with four daughters and a son on the way, Zac says he's officially done and thinks it's time to head to the doc for a bit of a snip snip. 

He tells The Country Vibe, “I’m done. I’m ready, I’ll go under the knife whenever the time will allow now.“ 

As for the son on the way, Zac says, “Getting the boy was a big blessing because I didn’t think it was going to happen. The odds were definitely against us and I wanted to know what that would be like to have a namesake and everything, but I try not to even talk about it until he’s here.“

 

The newest member of the Brown family is expected to arrive this May. 

Zac Brown reveals sex of new baby

Just last week, the Zac Brown Band's Twitter feed excitedly announced that Zac and his wife are expecting their fifth baby (the first four being girls). 

Now the band's Twitter feed has excitedly revealed the sex of that upcoming tax deduction.

Zac Brown and wife expecting fifth baby

Congratulations to Zac Brown and his wife Shelly who are once again expecting.

Zac announced the happy baby news on the Zac Brown Band's Twitter page.

Although most couples will say they're happy as long as the baby is healthy, I'm thinking Zac may be secretly hoping for a little boy as the couple already has four daughters - Justice, Lucy, Georgia and Joni. 

The baby news shouldn't come as much of a shock since Zac has joked in the past that he and his wife planned on practicing until they finally had a boy. 

“We’re just gonna keep on going until we get a boy,” Brown, who is one of 12 children himself, told the The Boot in a previous interview.

"If that’s 13, then I doubt I’m gonna be able to pull that off, but we’ll see.”

Sheryl Crow says music is about money

I recently had the chance to chat with Sheryl Crow and brought up how brave I thought she was for crossing over into country music, considering the current rate of success for women in the genre (the current top 10 is 100% male, and only 3 females currently have songs in the top 25). I've asked others this question before, and most of the time I get the answer, "I don't know."  Sheryl at least attempted to answer, although I'm not sure what to make of what she said.

"I do think that in the last...ten...fifteen years art has gone the way of commerce and you know that's...whenever there's money involved then you figure out what's going to bring in sponsors and what's going to resonate with people and what's going to sell records."

Well folks, it’s happened. Florida Georgia Line have surpassed the record for number of consecutive weeks spent at #1 on Hot Country Songs with ‘Cruise’. They are the all-time record holders (Jason Scott, one of our writers, had a rant about this today). In addition, ‘Cruise’ is #1 on Country Digital Songs, and their album ‘Here’s To The Good Times’ is still #1 on Top Country Albums.  Their latest single, ‘Round Here’ is at #6 on Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Songs, and #12 on Country Airplay, while ‘Get Your Shine On’ remains popular at #20 on Country Digital Songs and #22 on Hot Country Songs. Basically, in a short space of time, they’ve taken over the genre.

The Band Perry are the stars of this week’s chart roundup, as they can add another radio #1 to the list with ‘DONE.’. Elsewhere they’re not managing to break the monopoly on the top 10, however, falling one place to #11 on Hot Country Songs and all the way to #21 on Country Digital Songs. ‘Pioneer’ rises 4 places to #7 on Top Country Albums. Florida Georgia Line naturally head this aforementioned monopoly with ‘Cruise’, breaking record after record with their run at #1 across Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Songs that continues this week, with their album ‘Here’s To The Good Times’, also holding out at the top. Their newest single ‘Round Here’ is at #12 on Country Airplay, #7 on Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Songs, and their previous single ‘Get Your Shine On’ is still performing, now at #20 on Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Songs.

Chart Roundup – Week of July 27th, 2013

As if it were a surprise to anyone, the force that is Florida Georgia Line remains at #1 on Hot Country Songs yet again this week with ‘Cruise’(remix featuring Nelly). In addition, it remains at #1 on Country Digital Songs too, while their latest single ‘Round Here’ is at #6 on the same chart, #16 on Country Airplay and #8 on Hot Country Songs. Their album ‘Here’s To The Good Times’ stays at #1. Could it become a possibility that they end up holding both the #1 and #2 spots on the sales charts? Quite easily, in a couple of weeks’ time.

Blake Shelton also stands in the running for the soundtrack of the summer, ‘Boys Round Here’ (featuring Pistol Annies and friends) at #2 on Country Digital Songs, but falling to #4 on Hot Country Songs, while his latest single ‘Mine Would Be You’ not yet charting on Country Airplay top 25. In contrast, Hunter Hayes is still rising with ‘I Want Crazy’, taking the #2 spot on Hot Country Songs this week while he holds onto #3 on Country Digital Songs. He stays at #6 on Country Airplay, and #4 on Top Country Albums with the ‘Encore’ edition of his self-titled debut album, which still lags behind Blake Shelton’s ‘Based On A True Story…’, standing strong at #2.
